AV-W EDUCATION FOUNDATION

CREATED TO PRESERVE EXCELLENCE

The AV-W School has a noteworthy history of providing creative and innovative educational opportunities to its students. Many people choose to live in the district because of this. The foundation was formed to ensure students and community members continue to receive the benefits of the school district's commitment to excellence. By soliciting and managing contributions from those who are able to invest more in their school and community, the foundation can offer additional support when traditional funding sources are not enough to maintain and enhance the exceptional educational experience that AV-W has to offer.

A LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP

The foundation is designed to provide on-going support to AV-W School for years to come. It was not created to help fund any single initiative, but to provide a continuous source of alternative income. Donations are carefully managed to build a stable fund that will continue to grow over time, portions of it being used to support the school on an annual basis.

COMMUNITY-DRIVEN

The Arbor Vitae - Woodruff Education Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a diverse group of community members committed to the success of AV-W's students and the growth of our community. The board provides direction in grant making and leadership in fund-raising. While the foundation works closely with AV-W School leadership, it is independent of the school board and school administration.

The AVWEF appreciates contributions of any type or amount. Your generosity allows us to grant money for innovative projects at AV-W that would otherwise go unfunded. Donations may be mailed to:

BECOME A FOUNDATION MEMBER

Show your support by becoming a member of the foundation. Membership allows you to vote in the annual election of the foundation's board of directors at the annual meeting, which is held each September.

• Individual Membership
  $35 per school year

• Family Membership
  $60 per school year

• Business Membership
  $150 per school year

• Lifetime Membership
  $2,500

Donations and membership dues are tax deductible.

ALTERNATIVE WAYS OF GIVING

Have you considered the legacy you can leave by creatively funding the Arbor Vitae - Woodruff Education Foundation? A gift of cash is only one of many choices you have to contribute to the foundation. The foundation organizers can assist you with many alternative ways of giving.

• Gifts of Stock
  By transferring ownership of appreciated stock, you may avoid costly capital gains taxes and maximize your gift to AVWEF.

• Mutual Fund Shares
  You can transfer ownership of your mutual fund shares to the foundation. You may contact your mutual fund company directly for transfer forms or work with us to complete the transaction.

• Gifts of Property
  If it has a deed, it can be gifted. Vacant land, commercial real estate, time shares, or even your home (through a process called life tenancy) can be donated to the foundation. Personal property, such as jewelry, artwork or vehicles can also be excellent sources for donations to this great cause.

• Life Insurance Gifts
  A life insurance policy that is no longer central to your financial planning may be gifted with specific instructions to the foundation board. The policy may be surrendered for its cash value or be held until your death. You may decide to re-name the beneficiary and keep the policy in your name, or transfer the policy directly to the foundation.

• Remember AV-W School in Your Will
  You can leave a lasting legacy by gifting a percentage of your estate in your will. After family and friends have been taken care of, a charitable gift of a specific amount or certain properties can be considered for donation.
